Open Access Publishing Opportunities for APSU Faculty Members and Students: APSU Publishing Agreements (Publish OA without Fees)

Woodward Library has partnered with publishers to allow you publish in Open Access journals for free (with no article processing fees).

List of Current Agreements

APSU currently participates in transformative agreements with the following publishers:

  • ACM
  • Cambridge University Press
  • Springer Nature

Please see the boxes below for details on each agreement and how to publish OA without author fees.

Association for Computing Machinery: ACM (agreement through LYRASIS) for 2024-2027

Corresponding authors at APSU can publish articles in ACM journals, magazines, and proceedings as Open Access (OA) with no additional fees for a three-year fixed term. Authors retain copyright to their articles and can opt to publish using a Creative Commons license (default CC BY). ACM will also deposit copies of these new OA articles into institutions' repositories for open sharing, including for non-corresponding authors. Library patrons will continue to have full read/subscription access to the content in the ACM Digital Library. OA publishing is unlimited and pricing is fixed during the term of the agreement.

All ACM publications are covered under this agreement, including journals, magazines, conference proceedings. Details on eligible journals and a list of exceptions is provided on this ACM webpage.

To be eligible, articles must:
  • Have a corresponding author affiliated with APSU
  • Be original content
  • Have a manuscript accepted for publication

Springer Nature (agreement through LYRASIS) for 2024-2027

APSU is one of the 120 institutions the are participating in the transformative agreement between Springer Nature and Lyrasis. This means means that authors affiliated with APSU are eligible to publish their articles open access with fees covered in hybrid journals across the Springer Nature portfolio. 

To be eligible, authors must:
  • You must be the corresponding author of the article.
  • You must be affiliated with a participating institution.
  • You must identify yourself during the author identification process (you will be asked to do this once your article has been accepted for publication).

The copyright remains with you: your open access article will be published under the Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY/ CC BY-NC) license – you are free to redistribute the material in any medium or format.
